“We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” John Dryden
So I consider myself a creative and more often than not I find that I use it not so much as a proud declaration but as an excuse for all those things that I cannot be bothered to do like being organised, setting goals and all those other business type things that, ironically enough, would be the very things that take SM Photography to the next level.
“I’m not organised.”
“I’m terrible at networking.”
“I’m not a good business person.”
No matter what field you are in you have no doubt said one, if not all, of these things to yourself and others throughout your career. Well I have decided NO MORE!
Follow me and my small photography business on a journey of learning and discovery. I have no idea where it will take us as yet, hopefully to great fame and success, but it will be a brutally honest one as well as one of trial an error but with some guidance and determination my success will become your success as I share the things that help and hinder me along the way.
As a so called creative trying to make a living in this incredibly competitive field I have realised that while you are simply born with certain skills and talents others that you find you are lacking can, in fact, be learned and that your mind set defines how successful you will be in both business and life. This is where your competitive edge lies! Have a look at Brian Tracy's Million Dollar Habits for guidance on how to cultivate success habits.
Throughout the year I will not only be sharing the new business tips I learn along the way but photographic tips and tricks that have helped me work better and smarter. This is my year, I have decided that, so welcome and enjoy the ride.
